While you type a place you get suggestions: first places from this site, then, where the network allows, from the OpenStreetMap online map (Photon), which receives the text you type.
Every item with a place has "How to get there": choose where you start and how you travel, and Google Maps opens with the route. This site does not read your location: if you pick "My current location", Google Maps asks for it.
